Rocky Point Water System Upgrade

Metchosin, British Columbia
This complex and multi-disciplined project consists of five different work sites in and around the District of Metchosin in the Greater Victoria Region on Vancouver Island. To provide additional fire water capacity to this region, Industra will be installing 2.5 km of mainline HDPE piping, a new glass-fused bolted-steel reservoir, a new booster pump station and a new PRV station including all civil, structural, mechanical and electrical works.
Additional Scope Items

Part A: Rocky Point Pump Station

  • Complete post disaster building with separate electrical and pump room.
  • Stainless-steel process and PVC connection piping.
  • Pumps, motors, valves, surge tanks, flow meter and appurtenances for a complete operational system.
  • Mechanical heating, fans, and dehumidification equipment.
  • Electrical, controls (for process and mechanical equipment), starters, instrumentation for a complete operational system.
  • Generator, structural pad, posilock connection and transfer switch.
  • Storm, building and perimeter drains including manholes and sumps.
  • Water piping related to the pump station function, valves, and connection to existing service stubs.
  • Site work including unsuitable material removal and backfills, common excavation rough grading, sub-base, base-course, paving, finished grading, excavation, trenching, fencing, clearing and grubbing.
  • Commissioning and testing all equipment and controls.
  • Arden Road flow control valves, stainless steel piping, connections, and kiosk.

Part B – Deer Park Reservoir and Pump Station

  • Deer Park reservoir site improvements include a new bolted steel reservoir with a water storage size of 1,657 cubic meters or greater, interior stainless-steel piping and static mixer, underground piping stainless steel to 1.0m outside the reservoir, a new chlorine analyzer /seismic valve building with interior stainless steel process piping, building mechanical, instrumentation and controls.
  • Modifications to the existing Deer Park pump station includes structural removals / improvements, a new pressure reducing valve (PRV), flow meter and pressure tank. The existing pumps will be upgraded with variable frequency drives and controls for continuous service when the new Deer Park Reservoir is offline.

Part C – Rocky Point Road Watermain to Canadian Forces Ammunition Depot Rocky Point

  • Installation of 2,060 m of 300 mm diameter watermain and approximately 1,620 m of 75 mm diameter watermain (common trench) predominantly on DND property. At the DND / CRD delineation point, a CRD owned and operated meter and DND maintained backflow chamber will be constructed to CRD specifications.
