Chilliwack Non-Linear Utilities Design-Build
Chilliwack, British Columbia
This multi-discipline project combines several independent water and sewer upgrade and replacement projects into a single design-build project that includes the replacement of a wet well at an existing sanitary pump station, replacement of two water booster pump stations, construction of a new water reservoir, installation of a new water booster pump station and installation of several noise abatement measures at a water production well.
Additional Scope Items
New Booster Pump Stations
- Design and construct a 15 L/s and a 35 L/s duplex water booster pump station (BPS) utilizing turbine pumps.
- Existing BPS to remain in operation at all times during construction.
- Provide flow meter on downstream side of new BPS.
- Supply and install vertical turbine pumps, each capable of supplying water at 15/35 L/s at 86/7m of pumped total head into the 200/600mm DI main supplying zone.
- Supply and install all required electrical, mechanical and structural components for BPS.
- Connect the new BPS to the existing on-site backup generator and control building.
- Design and construct water main (yard piping) to connect the new BPS to the steel inlet/outlet main.
- Perform detailed design, supply and installation of three types of noise abatement measures, including acoustic louvers, hospital grade combustion mufflers, and sound absorption treatment such as Tectum Finale panels.
- Design and construct new duplex sanitary pump stations (SPS) with duty/standby pumps and wet well sized to accommodate a peak wet weather flow of 15 L/s to 35 L/s.
- Supply and install an external weatherproof enclosed diesel generator sized to the stations pumps and loads with a minimum power rating of 20kW and sound rated to a maximum of 67 db at 7m.
- Connect the existing 200mm PVC gravity sewer and all other service lines to the existing wet well and/or gravity to the new SPS wet well.
- Design and install a new 150mm forcemain to connect the new SPS to the existing 600mm AC or the 750mm PVC forcemain.
- Decommission existing SPS and wet well including removal of pumps, piping and appurtenances.
