Mitsubishi Europe (London) contracted Industra to dismantle the Unit 8 power plant in Medicine Hat, Alberta. The 130-foot-tall exhaust stack was removed, along with the economizer, boiler, turbine and generator. Significant piping modifications and repairs were required. The turbine and generator, each weighing approximately 550,000 lbs, were loaded onto heavy haul transport rigs and then offloaded onto railcars. Both units were transported to Houston, TX and delivered to Mitsubishi’s turbine re-build facility.
