Harvey Creek Reservoir Tank Replacement

Lions Bay, British Columbia
This project involved the demolition and disposal of an above ground concrete potable water reservoir (Harvey Tank), including electrical devices, piping and appurtenances, and construction of a new 2.33 ML above-ground glass-fused bolted-steel reservoir to store potable water. The reservoir includes a geodesic aluminum dome roof.
Challenges
  • Retrofitting a decommissioned above ground concrete tank (Oceanview) to use during demo and construction of the new water tank.
  • Work needed to be planned appropriately to ensure low water storage periods did not coincide with high fire risk periods.
Additional Scope Items
  • Demolition and disposal.
  • Siteworks including ground improvements for structural foundations, grading, drainage, fencing, retaining walls, site dewatering and landscaping.
  • Construction of above-ground, glass-fused, bolted-steel reservoir.
  • Mechanical piping, valves, fittings and appurtenances.
  • Upsizing existing valve chamber.
  • Electrical and instrumentation to service the new facilities.
