Design-build of a cultural daycare building on an extremely compressed timeline. Located in Délı̨nę, Northwest Territories, this remote project was only accessible to truck transport by winter road for a few weeks each March. Northern Industrial Construction (NIC) was awarded the project in late December 2019 and was able to advance the design sufficiently to procure and ship all buildings materials for the first year by March 2020. The building’s unique design represents the importance of trout to the people of Délı̨nę who regularly fish on Great Bear Lake. Local training and employment were a priority on this project as over 50 percent of the crews’ labour hours were local carpenters, labourers, and apprentices
