BC Border Crossings Upgrades (Kootenays)
Kootenays, British Columbia
Traffic and safety upgrades to two CBSA crossings located at the Kingsgate and Nelway border crossings in the East Kootenays of BC. As seasonal border crossings, we were proactive in managing traffic and workflow using a lane-phasing schedule combined with night shift for critical activities. To accelerate regular operation of closed lanes, we poured high-strength concrete to meet compressive strength requirements within 5 days. This project had an American counterpart and we beat their schedule by six weeks
Additional Scope Items
- Removal of existing asphalt and concrete in two phases at each port of entry.
- Maintain smooth driving surfaces for ongoing Port of Entry operations.
- Prepare, re-grade and test the base gravels.
- Install reinforced concrete, sidewalks and letdowns.
- Complete asphalt paving of staff parking.
- Complete site restoration to match existing or better conditions.
