Upgrade of the Sparwood Wastewater Treatment Plant including installation of new influent feed pumps, grit removal channels, sequencing batch reactor (SBR) systems, effluent flow equalization tanks, sludge handling and dewatering systems, and a new control building.
The project involved extensive civil earthworks, deep foundations supported by steel piles, and construction of large reinforced concrete process structures, including SBR tanks and associated infrastructure. The works also included full integration of process mechanical systems, chemical dosing systems, and electrical/instrumentation upgrades within an operating treatment facility.
Execution was carried out under challenging subsurface conditions, including high groundwater levels and poor subgrade, requiring engineered shoring, dewatering, and constructability planning to support deep excavations and structural works
